Tyra Banks has been strutting her stuff down runways and appearing on the covers of magazines since her teens, but it’s not often that you’ll see her in her “I woke up like this” naturalness. On Wednesday the model-turned-TV host gave fans something to talk about when she posted a makeup-free and unfiltered selfie.

"You know how people say #nofilter but you know there's a freakin' filter on their pic? Or maybe there's a smidge of retouching going on but they're lying and saying it's all raw & real?" Banks posted. "Well, this morn, I decided to give you a taste of the really real me.

"I wanted to smooth out my dark circles so badly!!!" she said. "But I was like, 'Naw, Ty. Show 'em the REAL you.' So…here I am. Raw. And there YOU are…looking at me, studying this picture. Maybe you're thinking, 'Whoa, she looks ROUGH.' And if you are, great! You deserve to see the REAL me. The REALLY real me. #RawAndReal."

Banks, who recently launched her own makeup line, admits on her site that she paints on her pretty and would never have become a supermodel without the magic of makeup.

"You know how some women wake up looking all refreshed and don’t need any makeup? You know who I'm talking about: those ladies with naturally rosy cheeks and sky-high cheekbones. You’re probably thinking, "Yeah, Tyra, like you!" Well, guess what? I'm not one of them! I paint my pretty on! I give myself a TYover EVERY SINGLE DAY," Banks stated on her website.

Although Banks realizes that natural beauty is a blessing, it's interesting that she admits to needing makeup and other tricks of the trade to look pretty. And quite honestly, if the least of most women's worries were some dark circles under their eyes, like the ones Banks was tempted to cover up, the cosmetics industry wouldn't survive. If you're like Banks and paint your pretty on, there's nothing wrong with that. Just make sure you treat your skin with care, which is something she obviously does.
