(The Root) — As news spread about Newark, N.J., Mayor Cory Booker's Twitter exchange with a Portland, Ore., stripper, Twitter was quick to respond, as usual. Most users, however, were uninterested, saying that the reveal was a "nonscandal" and a "nonstory," more interested in the fact that a vegan strip club — where the woman in question works — even exists:

Booker is taking the matter lightly, tweeting a couple of jokes about it, though not directly addressing the subject:

Booker's spokesman responded to questions surrounding the tweets, also shrugging them as a nonissue.

"It is obviously pretty innocuous, and quite frankly there is nothing there," Kevin Griffis told CNN. "The mayor is well known for communicating with people from all walks of life … He is a real person and he has normal human interactions on Twitter."

"I think he is the kind of person that doesn't judge other people or pass judgment on them," Griffis added. "They are trying to make a living and not hurting anybody else."
