On Monday, a student at Spring Valley High School in South Carolina was brutally attacked by a police officer, and it was all caught on video. The video showing the black girl being dragged out of her seat by Ben Fields, a senior deputy with the Richland County Sheriff’s Office, immediately went viral.
Reactions on Twitter ranged from people not believing that yet another black student had been violated to others wanting swift and immediate justice.

According to WLTX, Tony Robinson Jr., the student who filmed the incident, said everyone in the class was frightened and that the student “hadn’t done anything wrong.”
“She really hadn’t done anything wrong,” Robinson said. “She said that she had took her phone out, but it was only for a quick second.”
Fields is currently on administrative duty and has been banned from the school.
