(The Root) — Recall some of the most disturbing criticisms of Barack Obama's presidency that you've heard over the past four years. Not the ones about his policy positions, but the racially coded attacks about laziness and anger; the out-of-control, totally false allegations about socialism; and the line-crossing assaults on the first lady's physical appearance.
No surprise: They're in full force on Twitter on Election Day. We took a peek at some of the most popular Tweets under #RomneyRyan2012, from a near-viral "joke" that Obama will lead until "Republicans get off work" (Get it? because everyone who supports the president is unemployed), to a final push to characterize the president as un-American through allegations of "Obamunism," to a snide claim that Ann Romney would make a "prettier first lady" than Michelle Obama. The hashtag is at once a trip down memory lane through an unprecedented season of political disrespect, and a reminder of what's at stake today.
She would make a prettier First Lady any ways. #RomneyRyan2012 instagr.am/p/RsaOChjJ7B/

God, if you love us and value our future, please let the lazy/ignorant people stay away from the polls today. Love, Clay. #RomneyRyan2012
