ABOUT ERIN EVANS

I’m a reality TV junkie. Yes, the good, the bad and the "wow, I can't believe you watch that." At 12, I was hooked into the original reality show, The Real World. And over a decade later, I can’t believe it’s still on and that they are taping in D.C. as we speak. I can't stand Jon & Kate Plus 8; it should just be called Plus 8, keep the cute kids, lose the annoying parents. And yes, I confess, I watch Tiny and Toya on BET every week. If I could choose any reality show competition to be on, it would be Project Runway, just so Tim could tell me to “make it work.” But I also appreciate the best of TV. The Wire, Sex and the City, Martin and Living Single are a few of my all-time favorite shows.

When I’m Not in Front of the Tube

I’m a copy editor and writer for The Root, where I started working just over a year ago, a week after I graduated from Howard University. I've written for USA Today, Black Press USA, the North Dallas Gazette and The Hilltop (hey, Zora!), Howard's campus newspaper. I'm originally from Dallas, but I don't plan on moving back any time soon.

After saying for months that I wouldn't join Twitter 'cause I thought it was dumb, now I’m addicted (@heyerinevans), where I, of course, do shameless plugs whenever I can and where I tweet about the crazy things I see around Washington. I’m trying to dabble in a bit of creativity, so maybe I’ll Twitpic one of my amateur paintings or record a solo performance on my clarinet. And even if it's bad, feel free to re-Tweet it.
