A new day, and new claims of inappropriateness have been leveled against Donald Trump.

According to a Daily Beast report, during the 2011 taping of NBC's The Apprentice, Trump called Academy Award-winning actress Marlee Matlin "retarded."

Matlin would come in second place on the show and earn on-air compliments from Trump, but three people who worked on the show told the news site that the Republican nominee regularly treated Matlin as if she were mentally disabled.

"Sometimes the insults would be behind her back; other times they would be right in front of her,” the Daily Beast reports, and adds that fear of legal retribution prevented show workers from speaking about the insults.

"[Trump] would often equate that she was mentally retarded," one source told the Daily Beast.

The news site reports that Trump would scribble notes during taping asking what was wrong with Matlin. One note reportedly written by Trump and found by staff after taping read, "Marlee, is she retarded??"

Trump reportedly continued wearing his microphone even after taping was finished and was recorded making fun of Matlin. According to the report, Trump would often imitate the way Matlin spoke.

"[Trump] would make fun of her voice. It actually sounded a lot like what he did [to] the New York Times guy," a staff member told the site.

The New York Times "guy" is award-winning reporter Serge F. Kovaleski, who suffers from arthrogryposis—which limits the functioning of his joints. Trump not only would criticize Kovaleski's reporting while on the campaign trail but also once told those gathered at a rally, "You should see this guy," and then imitated Kovaleski's disability.

Matlin refused the Daily Beast's request for comment.
