Fulton County DA Fani T. Willis, the woman leading the criminal racketeering case against Donald Trump and his allies, has asked a judged to revoke the bond of one the co-defendants in the case. Willis made the request on Wednesday after accusing Harrison Floyd of intimidating possible witnesses in the case.
Per the motion filed with the court, Willis stated that Floyd had “engaged in numerous intentional and flagrant violations” of his bond agreement. The agreement stipulates that he isn’t allowed to directly or indirectly talk to potential witnesses as well as co-defendants in the case.
Floyd, who is the former leader of Black Voices for Trump, is currently facing three charges mostly related to the role he played in harassing two Black women Atlanta election workers. Trump and his allies falsely accused the pair of election fraud following the 2020 campaign. Floyd has pleaded not guilty.
The prosecution motion also stated that Floyd consistently posted messages on social media recently which targeted Ruby Freeman, one of the two election workers. Prosecutors allege that Floyd’s action were equivalent to witness intimidation.
In addition, they claim that Floyd had made her “the subject of renewed threats of violence from third parties.” Willis stated in the filing: “The Defendant’s actions demonstrate that he poses a significant threat of intimidating witnesses and otherwise obstructing the administration of justice in the future, making him ineligible for bond.”
Floyd responded to Willis’s motion on X/Twitter by sharing a video of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas during his 1991 confirmation hearing.
“Clarence Thomas was right,” Floyd said. “This is a circus. It is a national disgrace. It is a high tech lynching for an uppity black.” Karma came swift for Floyd following his arrest: he is the only Trump co-defendant who went to jail for the Fulton County case.
Floyd spent a total of five nights at the Fulton County Jail after failing to negotiate a bond agreement at first before he turned himself into authorities.
