Trump Claims His State of the Union Address Was the Most Watched in History. It Wasn’t

I don’t know why the orange man in office is this way, but shortly after the president’s first State of the Union address, the fat man with the permanent blond baby hair took to Twitter to claim that his address, which was watched by some 45.6 million viewers, was the most watched in history.

“Thank you for all of the nice compliments and reviews on the State of the Union speech,” Trump tweeted Thursday morning, Yahoo! News reports. “45.6 million people watched, the highest number in history. @FoxNews beat every other Network, for the first time ever, with 11.7 million people tuning in. Delivered from the heart!”

This is a lie.

According to Nielsen, Trump’s numbers fell some 2.4 million short of our president for life Barack Obama’s first State of the Union address in 2010. And Yahoo! News reports that “President George W. Bush’s first State of the Union speech drew nearly 51.8 million viewers in 2002. Bush’s second State of the Union, in 2003, was watched by more than 62 million.”

While Trump’s numbers didn’t include the white supremacists who may have streamed over the internet, the viewership numbers were enough to edge out President Bill Clinton’s first State of the Union address in 1994. Why isn’t that enough? Why couldn’t the Clinton-obsessed president just use those numbers to taunt his nemesis Hillary Clinton? Why couldn’t he have just said—forget it. I had a momentary lapse as to who I was talking about. This president is a size queen.

As Yahoo! notes: “Trump has long been obsessed with ratings, from his Celebrity Apprentice show on NBC to presidential debates. He has previously falsely claimed that CNN’s ratings were ‘way down’ while attacking the network.” And who could forget his bigly lie that his inauguration was the most attended inauguration in the history of inaugurations?
