Brooklyn, N.Y.’s own Tracy Morgan returned to his stomping grounds at the Marcy Playground on Tuesday to dedicate a newly refurbished basketball court to the community. Morgan, along with TBS, dedicated the court in front of people from the community, the New York City Police Department and the New York City Parks Department.

The event was dubbed a block party for Morgan’s new TBS series, The Last O.G., and the court now features art installations by Askew One and new basketball backboards with The Last O.G. logo.

During the dedication, Morgan spoke about the neighborhood he grew up in.

“This is for the kids; it’s bigger than me. It’s bigger than TBS. I played ball at this park; I cut my thumb in this park,” Morgan said.

At the end of his speech, Morgan became overcome with emotion and close to tears as he knelt down to kiss the ground.

During the press Q&A, The Root’s Michael Harriot asked Morgan what it meant to give back to the place where he grew up:

Kudos to Morgan for giving back in a huge way. The Last O.G. airs on TBS on Tuesday nights at 10:30 p.m.
