After a three-year hiatus, Tracee Ellis Ross will finally return to the small screen. The actress, best known for her role as Joan on the successful UPN-CW show Girlfriends, will be starring in a new comedy show called Reed Between the Lines on BET.

The actress tweeted the exciting news yesterday saying, "it's official @BET just announced my return 2 TV as aHAPPILY MARRIED THERAPIST- @MalcolmJamalWar is my hubby! And I'm producing! woot!!!" Ross will portray Dr. Carla Reed, a psychologist and mother of three who attempts to balance her busy career and hectic family life. Malcolm-Jamal Warner is cast as her husband, who works as an English teacher, and Melissa De Sousa will portray a holistic healer who shares the same office space with Ross' character.

Ross serves as the executive producer, alongside Arthur Harris and the former head writer for Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, Kelli Griffin. The series will debut this October along with The Game and Let's Stay Together, which were both renewed for another season on BET. The new sitcoms are part of BET's latest initiative to increase original scripted programming.

Since the departure of the show Girlfriends, Ross has been featured in films like Tyler Perry’s Daddy’s Little Girls and has made TV guest appearances on shows such as CSI and Private Practice. It'll be great to see the talented actress on a regular basis, and we hope Dr. Carla Reed can live up to Joan.
