“Black Jeopardy” is not a new sketch on Saturday Night Live, and it is not necessarily its funniest, but it certainly was this weekend when veteran actor and guest host Tom Hanks found himself standing behind the contestant podium as a Donald Trump supporter named Doug.
Normally, the white contestants on “Black Jeopardy” are the butt of every joke as they try to answer clues related to black culture.
Clad in a red “Make America Great Again” trucker hat and a white American Eagle T-shirt worn under a blue denim button-down, Doug is able to hold his own up against black contestants Keeley (Sasheer Zamata) and Shanice (Leslie Jones), even as host Darnell Hayes (Kenan Thompson) has his doubts and asks Doug, “Doug, you sure you ready to play Black Jeopardy?”
“They told me a fella could win some money, so let’s win me some money. Get ’er done,” Doug replies.
The categories are “Big Girls,” “Mm … I Don’t Know,” “You Better,” “I’m Gonna Pray on This,” “They Out Here Saying” and “White People.”
What follows is the funniest six minutes of the entire show.
