Ten years ago today, we lost one of the greatest treasures in hip-hop—Underground Kingz member Chad Butler, otherwise known as Pimp C.

If you are unfamiliar with Pimp C, I suggest you get familiar real quick. Use this 92-minute $weet Jone$ mix put together by DJ Wally Sparks to brush up on your Pimp C lyrics.

He had some gems. Whether on his own songs with his UGK partner, Bun B, or as a feature on another artist’s track, Pimp C had the gift of gab. His colorful use of language and metaphors made him the standout on almost anything he touched.

My favorite Pimp C verses, in no particular order, are as follows:

International Players Anthem (I Choose You),” by UGK, featuring Outkast

This is a classic. He went so hard right here. It is undeniably one of his best.

“Sippin on Some Syrup,” by Three 6 Mafia, UGK, Project Pat

He gets you hype as soon as he starts rapping, and by the time he gets to the “take that monkey shit off, you embarrassing us” part, you are probably yelling the lyrics at the top of your lungs or otherwise rapping very aggressively.

“Get Throwed,” by Bun B, featuring Pimp C, Z-Ro and Young Jeezy

OK, I lied. This is probably my all-time fave. I love this song, and I feel like Pimp C starting it off made the entire track for me. This is a hood/trap classic.

“Big Pimpin’,” by Jay-Z, featuring UGK

A lot of people are under the misguided impression that Jay-Z put UGK on when he featured them on “Big Pimpin’.” Nope. UGK put Jigga on by giving him this feature. Be honest with yourself and don’t bother to @ me or leave me your fuck-ass opinions in the comments. UGK went hard on this, and they made the gotdamn song, not Jigga. Like, they came on this man’s track and showed the fuck out. Sorry. Not up for debate. UGK all day.

I could go on and on, because as I said, the man had some gems. But I’m interested in what you think. What’s your favorite Pimp C rap? Be sure to include a link if available.
