“Scary Movie” fans, rejoice! The beloved franchise is officially returning for a reboot, with the Wayans brothers coming back to the franchise for the first time in almost 20 years.

The comedic brothers launched the series back in 2000, which parodied the popular slasher films of the time like “Scream” and “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” The franchise enjoyed four sequels, ending with the poorly received “Scary Movie 5" in 2013. With the news of the franchise officially returning to the hands of the Wayans, we’re looking back and breaking down some of the best scenes from the original franchise.

Brenda Meeks at the Movies

We can’t look back at “Scary Movie” scenes without starting with the legendary Brenda Meeks’ movie theater scene. Featuring a star-making turn from Regina Hall, the scene sees Brenda at a movie theater screening of “Shakespeare in Love,” where she openly talks and annoys her fellow audience members.

Parodying the famous Jada Pinkett Smith scene in “Scream 2,” the moment contains memorable lines such as “out of my face” and “this is some scary shit.” What brings this scene to the top is how the killer, who plans on killing Brenda in the theater, is thwarted by the audience themselves, who are so fed up with her obnoxious behavior they take matters into their own hands and kill her.

Cindy Campbell in The Matrix

Again parodying the popular films of the time, “Scary Movie” models “Scream,” with Anna Farris’ Cindy Campbell being a clear nod to Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott. In her big confrontation with the Ghostface killer, Cindy fights the killer in “The Matrix” style, fully defying gravity and running along walls, giving fans of horror and sci-fi a hilarious bit.

A Nike Freestyle Parody

“Scary Movie 2" goes beyond scary movies in its send-ups, often commenting on the culture at large. In one of the sequel’s most memorable scenes, the friend group walks around a haunted house. While expecting to see a ghost or ominous child, a basketball suddenly bounces towards them, thrusting the entire group into the popular Nike Freestyle commercial from the 2000s.

Scary Charlie’s Angels

Again, in the “Scary Movie” sequel, all movies were fair game, including the popular “Charlie’s Angels” films of the time. In a hilarious scene, Cindy (Farris), Brenda (Hall) and Theo (Kathleen Robertson), turn into the crime-fighting private investigators, climbing up walls, flying in the air, and doing more high kicks than you can count.

Brenda vs. The Ring

“Scary Movie 3" takes on one of the most popular films of the early 2000s, “The Ring.” Like the original film, a spooky little girl who once fell down a well terrorizes whoever plays a haunted videotape. Of course, Brenda is the one who plays the tape in “Scary Movie,” hilariously fist-fighting the girl after she crawls out of her TV.
