Editor’s note: The NFL released a statement saying that it requested the video from authorities and all information about what happened the night of the elevator incident at the Atlantic City, N.J., casino, but "that video was not made available to us and no one in our office has seen it until today.”

Want to see what it takes to get a two-game suspension from the NFL? Early Monday morning, TMZ released video footage that shows Ray Rice knocking out his then-fiancee, now-wife, Janay Palmer, at the Revel Hotel in Atlantic City, N.J.

When the incident occurred, the only footage available showed Rice dragging Palmer out of the elevator. Rice pleaded not guilty to an aggravated assault charge. He also avoided trial after being accepted into a pretrial intervention program. In May, Rice apologized to his teammates and Baltimore Ravens management for his behavior.

The video footage shows Rice hitting Palmer first and then Palmer attempting to retaliate. Rice then literally knocks Palmer out cold. As Palmer is hit with the second blow, she hits her head on the elevator’s hand rail.

According to TMZ, a former employee of the hotel stated that the NFL saw the video footage and still felt a paltry two-game suspension was fitting.

So what’s the moral of this story? The NFL doesn’t give a damn about domestic violence, but don’t do drugs because you’ll get suspended for a whole season. How did the NFL see fit to suspend Rice and not kick his sorry ass out of the league?

And for everyone who defended Rice by saying that if a woman hits first, she deserves to get hit back, what could you possibly say now after viewing the video?
