It’s no secret that Tina Knowles loves her family. Her social media footprint is full of pictures and words of love and support for her children and grandchildren. Now, just in time for Father’s Day, Knowles showed a little of that love to the man she calls, “Daddy.”
In a touching Father’s Day tribute, Knowles posted a photo of her father, Lumis Albert Beyince on Instagram and shared the lasting impact he’s had on some of the youngest members of their family.
“Happy Fathers Day Daddy, my handsome sharp dresser, great dancer. I will never stop missing you Lumis Albert Beyince. Man of little words, but man of many fatherly actions. And giver of much love,” Knowles wrote in her June 16 post.
Knowles used her post to share some of the things about her dad that she sees in her children and grandchildren. And we can’t help but agree with some of her observations that are completely on point.
His Name
According to Knowles, Queen Bey’s now-famous moniker is a tribute to her father, Lumis Albert Beyince, and their family name.
“A lot of people don’t know that Beyoncé is my last name. It’s my maiden name,” Knowles told Heather Thompson on an episode of her “In My Heart” podcast.
But while her father and most of her siblings spell their name “Beyince,” Knowles’ name is the result of a clerical error on her birth certificate in the hospital.
“I asked my mother when I was grown. I was like, ‘Why is my brother’s name spelled B-E-Y-I-N-C-E? You know, it’s all these different spellings.’ And my mom’s reply to me was like, ‘That’s what they put on your birth certificate,’” Knowles said in the interview.
His Style
According to Knowles, her father was a sharp dresser, a quality the rest of the family clearly inherited. Besides making music we love, Beyoncé is known for setting trends with her style, wearing a mix of classic designers like Roberto Cavalli and Balmain and helping to put Black-owned brands like Cushnie and Telfar on the map. Whether she’s doing her thing on stage or slaying a red carpet arrival, the Queen always looks amazing.
His Moves
If you’ve ever watched Beyoncé perform, you know she leaves it all on the stage. But fans have watched with pride as Bey’s oldest daughter, Blue Ivy, has started to come into her own as a performer – even taking the stage with mom on several stops of her successful Renaissance world tour. According to Knowles, Blue can thank her great grandad for blessing her with those smooth moves.
His Smile
Singer/songwriter Solange Knowles has a smile that’s infectious and lights up any room she enters. Mom Tina says her youngest daughter’s gorgeous grim has grandpa all over it.
His Eyes
It’s hard not to get lost in Lumis Beyince’s eyes in the photo Knowles shared. According to Miss Tina, her grandson, Daniel “Julez” Smith Jr. inherited his piercing blue-gray eyes from her father. The 19-year-old son of Solange Knowles and her ex-husband Daniel Smith has been modeling since he was a toddler, and has recently turned up on the runway of the Luar Fall 2024 fashion show during New York Fashion Week.
