CBS News report that Tiger Woods, on tour in Europe, spit on the 12th green after missing a par putt and was fined an undisclosed amount by the European Tour.
A TV announcer called him "arrogant and petulant" on the air, adding, "It does not get much lower than that." (Hmmm, seems like someone missed the texts that leaked last year around the time the golfer's marriage ended. It actually does get quite a bit lower.)
In the United States, those in the sports world didn't really see the problem. Fox Sports' Robert Lusetich said, "Tiger Woods spits all the time." Bob Harig, a golf writer for ESPN, mused that it might have been the result of his allergies.
Earlier today, Tiger Woods tweeted, "The Euro Tour is right — it was inconsiderate to spit like that and I know better. Just wasn't thinking and want to say I'm sorry."
We're guessing it's one of the easier apologies he's had to issue in recent memory.
