We’re fascinated by anything Jordan Peele does. He always has an interesting story to tell in a completely fresh, unexpected way. Alongside Keegan Michael Key, “Key & Peele” was one of the most inventive sketch comedy series of all time.

Then he swerved us all by moving into horror, but of course, doing it in a way we’d never seen before with “Get Out.” He won a well-deserved Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, in the process becoming Hollywood’s favorite new horror auteur.

He followed up the success of “Get Out” with the thought-provoking films “Us” and “Nope.” Since 2022’s alien monster tale, we’ve been not-so-patiently waiting for Peele’s fourth directorial feature. Well after being delayed by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, we’re finally getting news on the upcoming project. While appearing on the “Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend” podcast, Peele told the host that he’s “psyched” about the movie.

“This has been…obviously, it’s been an interesting year because the writer’s strike had me in a state of listening, and that’s where I need to be,” he said. “I do feel like my next project is clear to me, and I’m psyched that I have another film that could be my favorite movie if I make it right.”

And now you know everything we know.

Even though we know next to nothing about Jordan Peele’s new movie, including a title, cast or release date, we’re totally going to wildly speculate about what we think we’ll see. Before we get to the fun, you should know that this film probably won’t hit theaters until 2025.

Deep, Thoughtful Social Issues

We don’t know how he’s going to do it, but we know that the “Toy Story 4” actor will somehow work thought-provoking issues like race and gender into the scary story. Seriously, did you see the craziness of “Get Out” coming? Of course not, because none of us thought these white people were trying to steal Black people’s bodies. You did not go into that movie expecting brilliant commentary on race.

An Ending You Can’t Shake

Honestly, we’re still trying to figure out the whole “Hands Across America” ending to “Us.” That moment at the end of “Get Out” where the police show up is the most heartbreaking minute in recent film memory. When Rod got out of the car, our relieved sigh was heard by the ancestors. It’s still living rent free in our heads.

Daniel Kaluuya Might Be In It

Full disclosure: No cast for the new movie has been announced. However, Peele has made it clear he’d like to work with Kaluuya as much as possible. He likened their relationship to that of film legends Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro. In that context, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the “Black Panther” star pop up in some capacity.

We’re not worried about getting a good movie, that’s a given. Based on his comments, it seems like he’s setting up another unique story, which is what we want and expect from Jordan Peele properties.
