It seems as though people have had enough of Raven-Symoné’s shenanigans on The View, and a newly created petition has drawn over 84,000 signatures to have her ousted.
The Change.org petition is addressed to Barbara Walters and calls for her to fire the outspoken and occasionally misspoken host and replace her with someone whose views are representative of “African Americans and black people around the Diaspora” and not someone whose views are of what “white people want us to say.”
Raven-Symoné’s most recent backlash came after she came down hard on the Spring Valley High School student in Columbia, S.C., who was assaulted by a sheriff’s deputy also assigned as a student resource officer. The talk show host suggested that the assault wouldn’t have happened if the young lady hadn’t been on her cellphone. The host was not even thinking about how maybe it wouldn’t have happened if the now-fired officer, Ben Fields, wasn’t the stereotypical hothead police officer who apparently lacked training in the areas of de-escalation.
The petition has a goal of 150,000 signatures. Will Walters even acknowledge the petition? There’s one thing for sure: Ever since Raven-Symoné has been on the show, you can almost guarantee that there will be something crazy said on a weekly basis. Maybe Walters is getting a kick out it, and Raven-Symoné’s hiring was a last-ditch effort to help the show in ratings.
