Sean “Diddy” Combs is still racking up sexual assault lawsuits while detained in jail awaiting prosecution for federal sex crimes. The latest suit doesn’t come from a plaintiff who was a model or amateur music star — but from a then-teenaged babysitter trying to get home.
The lawsuit filed Monday (Jan. 13) in New York Supreme Court details the account from a Jane Doe who claimed to be a 16-year-old high school student when she encountered Combs. The suit, obtained by PEOPLE and Rolling Stone, says the incident happened between August and September of 2000. The plaintiff said she was working as a part-time babysitter at an apartment building which was home to a “well-known woman” who had a relationship with Combs.
The lawsuit says the girl exited the building to walk to her parents’ home around the corner when she saw Combs sitting in an SUV with his door open. The suit says Combs had a conversation with her and asked her where she was going so late in the evening. Combs allegedly told her it wasn’t safe for her to walk home alone and convinced her to let him give her a ride.
“Getting into Combs’ car that day was something Plaintiff would come to regret forever. During the ride, Plaintiff became scared when they did not drop her off at home as promised. The defendant gave her a drink to ‘calm her down.’ She soon became groggy and unsteady,” the suit says.
The suit alleges after this moment, the driver, Combs and another man drove her to a remote location where she was raped by the rapper. The suit says she was eventually taken home and left in the lobby. As expected, Combs’ defense attorney denied all claims that the rapper partook is such actions.
“No matter how many lawsuits are filed, it won’t change the fact that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted, or sex trafficked anyone — man or woman, adult or minor,” said Combs’ attorneys in a statement via Rolling Stone.
Diddy’s Growing Pile of Lawsuits
These allegations are the most recent to come against the rapper, though, even more are expected to come in. Tony Buzbee said in an Oct. 1 press conference that he’s representing 120 individuals — men and women — who claimed to have been drugged, sexually assaulted, raped or threatened by Combs. Some alleged victims claimed to be minors at the time of the incidents.
Out of the pool, over a dozen anonymous plaintiffs have filed their lawsuits, per court records. Of the unnamed celebrities implicated in some of the suits, rapper Jay-Z was the only one so far to be named as Combs’ accomplice in a sexual assault.
Many of the suits, filed since 2023, have been civil. However, Combs faces criminal charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and engaging in interstate transportation for prostitution in federal court. He has pleaded not guilty and was denied bail.
