Was it another teammate’s greed that prompted New York Giants’ Damontre Moore to tackle him during an otherwise festive occasion? Or did Moore see the writing on the wall?

Whatever the reason, Moore, a defensive end, was released by the team Friday after getting into a fight with defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins on Thursday over a pair of blue Beats by Dre headphones, reports the New York Daily News

The incident occurred as the team’s star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was handing out the headphones as a gift to players before practice. The wireless headphones retail for about $380 at the Apple store, but it's unclear which version Beckham distributed.

Jenkins reportedly grabbed two for his daughters and took them to his car, reports NJ.com. The move apparently didn’t sit well with Moore and an altercation erupted between the two men, each of whom earns more than $1 million annually.

The dismissal was a last straw of sorts for Moore, notes the report. “He had been fined ‘many times’ this season for disciplinary reasons,” a source told the Daily News, adding, “This wasn’t the first time he had an altercation with a teammate.”

Moore reportedly also had problems on the field. The 2013 third-round draft pick from Texas A&M has had 8.5 sacks in 42 games over three seasons, including three this year, the report says.

Without providing more details, Giants General Manager Jerry Reese said, “We made the move today in the interest of both parties.”

While the fight was likely over more than just headphones, shame on both men!
