For fans of HBO’s drama “Euphoria” it’s been an exceptionally long wait for Season 3 to hit screens. Part of that is due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes that shut down Hollywood for much of 2023, but it’s also become the nature of the show. There’s typically been a year-long break between seasons. Unfortunately, this extra long delay is having “serious” repercussions for one of the show’s stars.

Nika King, who plays Leslie Bennett, the mother of Zendaya’s Rue, recently revealed that the season 3 delay has led to some rough consequences for her. In an Instagram clip of her stand-up routine, the actress joked about her TV daughter traveling the world while she’s stuck at home with the bills piling up.

“People are like, ‘We need season 3.’ I’m like, ‘Bitch, I need season 3, too!’ I haven’t paid my rent in six months, and Zendaya’s over in Paris at Fashion Week,” King said. “I’m like, ‘Bitch, come home! I need you. Mama need you.’”

She revealed that the show hasn’t been the career boost she expected. While the actors who play the angsty teenagers have been everywhere during the show’s hiatus, King hasn’t found that same success.

“I haven’t booked nothing since ‘Euphoria.’ This is some bullshit,” she said. “I thought my career was on the rise after ‘Euphoria.’ I thought I was good. It don’t work that way. I called Taraji, she was like ‘Bitch get used to it.’”

As for the reason behind the ridiculous wait, one of the series’ stars has an idea about what’s taking so long. Oscar-nominee Colman Domingo thinks that creator Sam Levinson might be reworking the season so it reflects the current difficulties of the real world.

“[Sam is] a person who writes and rewrites and writes and rewrites again, because I think he’s wrestling with what’s important,” Domingo told GQ. “He’s responding immediately to what the ills of the world are. I know that the one thing I can tell you is that he’s very much interested in the existential question of who we are right now. Our souls. That’s what he wants to figure out with season three.”

That’s all well and good, but in the meantime, the drama’s cast and crew are still waiting to get back to work. And maybe you could’ve skipped the abomination that was “The Idol” and spent that time on “Euphoria” Season 3.
