The unapologetic blackness of Jay-Z and Beyoncé continues. ’Cause you know black folks are real creative when it comes to our kids’ names. Celebrities, too. And they are both.
And so, if the reports are true, the double spawn of Bey and Jay are Rumi and Sir, two unique names indeed.
Rumi was a 13th-century Persian mystic who wrote beautiful love sonnets; “Sir” is a title given to those in the British Empire who have distinguished themselves, and apparently to children who are going to be beat up on playgrounds (jokes).
So what did the internets have to say about these choices? It’s a mixed bag. Mostly one of reluctant acceptance. Read on, and weep (with laughter).
And, really, do we even know that these are their names, for real for real?
