As Hollywood continues to mourn the recent passing of Michelle Trachtenberg, fans are drawing a sad parallel between her and the late Chadwick Boseman. What they’re pointing out will no doubt upset you.
As noted by CNN, the “Harriet the Spy” star died in Manhattan on Wednesday (Feb. 26). While the cause of her death has officially been listed as “undetermined,” many fans noticed that as of recently, she’d been looking a bit slimmer than in years past.
Several specifically cited one of her last public appearances back in November 2023 at the 15 Years of Siriano Party in Los Angeles as evidence.
Naturally, as the negativity about her look began to circulate online, it caught the attention of other users who warned them against judging people off their physical appearance and cited Chadwick Boseman’s passing as reminder. As you well know by now, in the couple of years leading up to his death, Boseman was noticeably skinnier and it prompted online bullying from folks and trolls online.
As we would all come to learn after his shocking death, his slimmer look was due to his stage III colon cancer diagnosis. Though some reports have said that Trachtenberg may have recently undergone a liver transplant, that still wasn’t enough to keep folks from spewing negativity.
“You seem unwell,” wrote one in part in the comments section on one of her recent Instagram posts.
Said another, “what happened to her? She’s still in her 30s.”
“U died of drugs?” another user wrote.
“Are you sick?” one other user asked.
However, there were others who defended the “Ice Princess” star.
“Really sad about Michelle Trachtenberg dying. In the last year, she pushed back on a lot of people claiming she looked sickly after a liver transplant. Hollywood rarely hires people who are sick. Not just Hollywood. The pressure to appear well is tough and pervasive,” wrote on user on X/Twitter.
“Never forgetting how y’all were saying all over social media (and directly in her comments) that michelle trachtenberg looked ‘old’ and like she was on drugs meanwhile she was having issues with her liver and had a f***ing transplant,” wrote another.
Added one other user, “can we pls use this as a sign to stop bullying celebrities appearances bc it ‘looks like they’re doing drugs’ when actually they are literally dying before our eyes of severe health issues I.e, chadwick boseman and now michelle trachtenberg.”
