According to Merriam-Webster’s dictionary, racism is defined as:
1. a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
2. racial prejudice or discrimination
In our supposedly “post-racial” society, racism is still prevalent. Whether it’s shopping while black, being racially profiled by police or being subjected to discrimination in the workplace, racism is something that people experience on a daily basis.
On Thursday The Root asked readers to define what racism means to them, and the responses were honest and thought-provoking:

Racism is easily defined, but will there ever be steps to eradicate it? Unfortunately, I don't see it happening anytime soon.
