(The Root) — Who doesn't want tips for prosperity in the New Year? In the latest The Root Live webcast, which aired Monday, Dec. 17, host Harriette Cole tackled the topic with three experts: Teri Williams, president of OneUnited Bank; Harris Glasser, author of It's My Money and I Want It; and Michelle Singletary, personal-finance columnist for the Washington Post.
They offered plenty of good advice — and even some motivation for those who might have given up hope. "Recognize that things have changed," Williams said. "And what I mean by that is because you were turned down before doesn't mean you'll be turned down today. Because you couldn't find a job yesterday doesn't mean you will not find one tomorrow. And to never give up. Because what I have seen is that the economy is getting better … there are a lot of people who have withdrawn from the workforce, and … I really do believe that they should try again."
