If Vivica A. Fox has it her way, it’s going to be a hot girl summer. That’s because the 59-year-old actress is looking for love. In an April 2024 appearance on “Today with Hoda and Jenna,” the “Set it Off” star, who was once linked to rapper 50 Cent, told the hosts that she’s ready to settle down.
Fox described her perfect partner to Hoda and Jenna as “someone who’s going to be fun, that’s not intimidated by who and what I am, that likes to travel, and is gonna let me go shopping.” “And I don’t discriminate. I’m not against different nationalities,” she added.
But while it should be true that everyone, regardless of age, deserves a little lovin’ if they want it, some guys on the socials seem to think that because she doesn’t look like the same Vivica who starred in “Soul Food” 27 years ago, her time has passed.
“Vivica Fox is 59 talking like she has the leverage of a 29-year-old,” said one TikToker. “You don’t look like the same Vivica Fox I saw playing with Jamie Foxx.”
He goes on to warn younger women that they could meet the same fate if they don’t get serious about finding a partner while time is on their side.
“It’s over Vivica. The best thing you can do is teach other ladies not to be like you,” he added.
A user on X chimed in suggesting that Fox get out of the game, calling her a “60 year old overweight woman that probably can’t even have kids anymore.”
And still others, like this YouTuber, are not missing the chance to invoke the name of the late controversial YouTube star Kevin Samuels, who frequently equated Black women’s value in the dating game with their age and appearance. Fox was criticized for calling the star’s untimely death in 2022 “karma” for the things he said about her and other Black women.
But is it our place to say who’s too old for love? After all, it would be a shame if a few extra pounds and some grey hairs meant you had to spend your golden years alone with nothing but your favorite streaming service. Good luck, Vivica!
