If you’ve ever been to a Lauryn Hill concert, you can’t deny the fact that she puts on a good show. I mean, how many people can still tour off the same album that debuted in 1998? There’s no denying that The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was, and is still, considered a classic, but when it comes to Hill actually showing up on time for a show? That’s classic Lauryn Hill, too.
During a Tuesday-night show in Pittsburgh, fans shelled out good money to see Hill, but of course, she showed up three hours late. And, of course, fans had some angry tweets for her ass.
This typically happens after every Hill concert, and of course, people wonder why fans continue to set themselves up for disappointment.
Hill hasn’t issued a statement about her lateness, but last year she did provide a lengthy explanation as to why she’s occasionally late:
“I don’t show up late to shows because I don’t care,” Hill posted on Facebook. “The challenge is aligning my energy with the time, taking something that isn’t easily classified or contained, and trying to make it available for others. I don’t have an on/off switch. I am at my best when I am open, rested, sensitive, and liberated to express myself as truthfully as possible.”
So the next time you’re late for work, for a job you’re getting paid for, just tell your boss you needed extra time to align your energy.
