Just what the black community needs — more guns. In a 5-4 vote, the Supreme Court held Monday that Americans have the right to own a gun for self-defense anywhere they live. This extends the conservative court's embrace of gun rights since John Roberts became chief justice. This also casts a shadow on Chicago's handgun ban and possibly bans in other cities. However the court "signaled" that "the right to keep and bear arms could survive legal challenges." It's safe to assume that 54 people are not getting shot over a 48-hour period in Supreme Court neighborhoods.
