Trump knows a good grift when he sees one. On Friday, just hours after being found guilty in the New York civil fraud trial—in which he must pay a $355 million fine—his supporters set up a GoFundMe on his behalf. The almost 2 and a half month trial was prosecuted by New York Attorney General Letitia James.
Trump must also pay $83 million to writer E. Jean Carroll in her defamation suit, which followed a $5 million award in a different trial where he was found liable for sexually abusing her. He has implied there are plans to appeal the fraud case decision but hasn’t deterred his followers from donating to the fund.
The page, which is called “Stand with Trump; Fund the $335M Unjust Judgment,” has raised just under $665k as of Tuesday (Feb. 20), and the MAGA support of Trump would be comical if it wasn’t so dumb. Organizer Elena Cardone wrote:
“I stand unwaveringly with President Donald Trump in the face of what I see as unprecedented and unfair treatment by certain judicial elements in New York. The recent legal battles he faces are not just an attack on him, but an attack on the very ideals of fairness and due process that every American deserves. It’s a moment that calls into question the balance of justice and the application of law, disproportionately aimed at silencing a voice that has been at the forefront of advocating for American strength, prosperity, and security.”
So the billionare mogul who deliberately inflated the value of his assets in financial documents deserves to be bailed out by people who don’t possess nearly as much wealth? Whiteness really is that powerful.
Forbes estimated that Trump’s New York City real estate portfolio is worth $690 million, with other properties outside of that valued at $190 million. His resorts and golf clubs are worth about $870 million.
In addition to cashing in on the idiocy of his supporters, Trump revealed at “Sneaker Con” that he’s selling gold sneakers—called “The Never Surrender High-Top Sneaker,” at $399 a pop. There were only 1,000 pairs available and they reportedly sold out within hours after launching.
Trump embodies white supremacist ideologies that his most loyal fans are desperate to cling to. Despite his never-ending racist commentary, inciting violence amongst his followers (which spurred Jan 6.), being found liable of sexual abuse, being impeached twice and having 91 counts pending, the support he receives from his MAGA fanbase is as steadfast as ever.
The way Trump supporters have attacked Fani Willis online also show their glaring hypocrisy. There is no bottom for the right, which has been proven over and over again. That not only makes them extremely dimwitted, but dangerous as well.
