Poet-activist-musician Gil Scott-Heron performed at the Montreaux Jazz Festival over the weekend. His message to the audience included, "For those of you who bet I would not be here — you lose." Scott-Heron opened his set with "Blue Collar." The famed performer, who has been active for more than 40 years, has been heavily sampled by rappers.
