While Cardi B is making money moves, a judge is demanding she move her ass to a court hearing... or else. Judge Sean Dunn issued the Invasion of Privacy rapper a warning after she was a no-show during Monday’s hearing. As TMZ reported, prosecutors fought for an immediate bench warrant since Cardi had already been granted a six-week extension in connection with the case.
Alas, Cardi (governmentally known as Belcalis Almanzar) got lucky because she’s getting off with a warning—this time. She’ll have to show up in court Friday morning to avoid those cuffs.
For those wondering why she has to show up to court in the first place, let’s do a refresher: On August 29, Cardi’s posse allegedly jumped on Angels Strip Club bartenders Jade and Baddie Gi and promptly mollywhopped them both. The melée included thrown bottles and chairs and both bartenders claimed to have suffered from multiple injuries. Cardi’s alleged personal contribution was throwing glasses and tossing a hookah pipe at the women.
The 26-year-old chart topper’s wrath came from Offset, naturally, as she believed the two bartenders were both sleeping with her husband. Sigh, why is it always over a man?
The bartender beef recently became a bit more tender when Nicki Minaj featured Jade and Baddie Gi in her recent music video for “Good Form.” Obvious shots fired.
Queens Assistant District Attorney Ryan Nicolosi argued Cardi shouldn’t receive any preferential treatment just because she’s rich and famous, and should show up to court-appointed dates just like everyone else. Cardi’s legal team assured everyone she’s not being a diva and ghosting the court just because she can. Honey is booked and busy.
“You all need to understand this is not about her saying, ‘Screw going to court. I got things to do. I’m important.’ She has managers, she has business people, she has things scheduled. So it’s not like we can just say, ‘Hey you got to come to court on Monday,’” said Cardi’s lawyer Jeff Kern, via Page Six, following Monday’s hearing.
