As numerous wildfires continue to negatively impact families across Los Angeles, rapper The Game is doing his part to help out those in need. And the way he’s showing up just might surprise you.
As captured in multiple posts on Instagram, the California native is stepping up and lending a helping hand to people and, in particular, their pets and furry friends who have been displaced. In partnership with Cleo Critters Care, the rapper is providing necessary items like food and water to get the animals to shelters where they can hopefully get reunited with their owners.
According to his social media presence, he’s been boots on the ground across Pasadena and Altadena for the last five days helping firefighters and others during this tough period.
“Started day 5 on an animal rescue mission & it’s a miracle that some of these animals survived the fires seeing the aftermath of what occurred here,” he captioned in part in a post on Monday. “Brought food & water in hopes they’d trust the team enough to get them to a nearby shelter where hopefully most of them can be reunited with their owners.”
As previously reported by The Root, the devastating fires in Pacific Palisades, Altadena and more have seen thousands of people separated from their homes and prized possessions. Per the Los Angeles Daily News, over 36,000 acres worth of homes and businesses have been impacted. Black Los Angelenos have been hit especially hard and their livelihoods have been upended at disproportionate levels.
Thankfully, numerous volunteers like The Game and various organizations like WalkGoodLA and more are doing all that they can to help rebuild the city.
