Bookies have forecast March as the odds-on favorite month for Meghan Markle’s due date, but the Duchess of Sussex herself revealed during an appearance Tuesday that she is due in late April. Speaking with one of the many fans who turned out to see Meghan and Prince Harry in the town of Birkenhead, England, People reports that the duchess divulged she’s currently six months pregnant.
“We asked her how her pregnancy was going and she said she was six months and she tapped her tummy,” fan Carla Gandy told People.
Markle was the epitome of radiance with a striking red and purple color story. Her red, wide-collared wrap coat was by Canadian luxury outerwear brand Sentaler ($1,395), which she famously wore in Camel, pre-marriage. She matched the coat with four-inch suede heels from Stuart Weitzman ($398), and accented the look with a waitlisted cognac leather bag from Gabriela Hearst. The purple Babaton by Aritzia “Maxwell” dress she wore beneath rang in at a far more modest $138, and was on sale for $49.99 before selling out immediately.
Also, we admittedly got a kick out seeing how Markle’s naturally curly and likely rapidly-growing roots are responding to the naturally damp English climate, now that they’re untouched by any potential straightening treatments, due to pregnancy.
Royals—they’re just like us!
The appearance was the couple’s first joint engagement of 2019. Later this week, they’ll attend the premiere of Cirque du Soleil’s “Totem” in London, which will likely provide us with another glimpse at Markle’s maternity style. As for the gender of the Sussexes unborn child, the two claim not to know yet, wanting it to be a “surprise,” according to British network ITV.
That said, the duchess reportedly also crowdsourced possible names for their royal-to-be, with one fan offering the name Amy. Markle reportedly said “Oh, I like Amy too!” in reference to assistant Amy Pickerill.
But should the couple’s firstborn be a girl, the odds-on favorite for her name is still “Diana.”
