Cam Newton is dabbed out. The NFL star says he’s putting the dance behind him and will find another way to celebrate his touchdowns next season.

“I have to put that aside,” the NFL MVP said in an interview with North Carolina’s WFNZ radio.

The dab has been done by the young and old. But not everyone was a fan of the move. Remember the North Carolina mother who was offended by the gesture and wrote an open letter to Newton?

“The chest puffs. The pelvic thrusts. The arrogant struts and the ‘in your face’ taunting of both the Titans’ players and fans. We saw it all,” Rosemary Plorin wrote.

“I think I’m safe in saying thousands of kids watch you every week,” Plorin continued. “You have amazing talent and an incredible platform to be a role model for them. Unfortunately, what you modeled for them today was egotism, arrogance and poor sportsmanship.”

Well, I’m sure Plorin will be happy that the dab is officially dead.

So when will he come up with a new dance? Well, Newton didn’t say.

“I have until September to find out,” Newton said during his interview.

Until then, keep dabbing, folks.
