Sadly, last Sunday felt a little less glamorous without the cast of Pose to brighten up the night in a colorful array of late ‘80's fashions. But thankfully, three of the leading ladies were recently featured in a fashion-laden cover story for the August issue of Out Magazine, making our hiatus just a little bit easier while we await a well-earned second season of the history-making show.

Styled by Out’s fashion director Grant Woolhead, the gorgeous trio of Mj Rodriguez (Blanca), Indya Moore (Angel) and Dominique Jackson (Elektra) strike many pose while wearing Gucci, Versace, Coach, Marc Jacobs, Jeremy Scott, Jimmy Choo and Adam Selman, glamming up Harlem, N.Y. in a series of retro-inspired shots by photographer Danielle Levitt. For the cover story, the three were interviewed by writer and trans activist Janet Mock, who got to the heart of why Pose is such a watershed moment in television history, and how the experience has impacted each of these women’s lives.

For Mock, who is not only a writer on the show but also a producer and newly-minted director (of the deeply emotional sixth episode of the series), the experience of putting together a series where trans women are placed front and center as both characters and actors was a “goosebump-inducing” experience. But for actors Rodriguez and Moore, who had worked together on the 2017 musical Saturday Church, and Jackson, who’d met then-foster child Moore while working at a nonprofit, it was a akin to coming home.

“Walking into the room, it felt like family, even with people that I had never met before,” Jackson said.
