It’s unconfirmed at the moment, but it’s a perfectly logical next step. Beyoncé and Jay Z’s On the Run tour was a massive hit, as were most of the songs they’ve recorded together thus far, like “Crazy in Love,” “Upgrade You” and “Drunk in Love.” Not to mention, the duo has an HBO concert documentary premiering on Saturday that they need to promote, so why not tease the idea that a dual album is on the way?
DJ Skee, speaking on Dash Radio, says that he “talked to a couple of sources” and “confirmed” that the biggest couple in entertainment is, in fact, working on a joint EP.
When CNN reached out to Jay Z’s camp for a confirmation, the Brooklyn, N.Y., MC, ever so tongue-in-cheek, told the outlet “to ask DJ Skee.” Not quite a confirmation, or a denial.
Either way, the mere thought of another monthslong collaborative effort between the King and Queen of Entertainment is putting a Kool-Aid smile on the collective Beyhive.
That zzzzzz-ing sound you’ve been hearing all day is the hive trying its damnedest to control itself on Twitter. Have a look for yourself:
Meanwhile, some of Jay Z’s hard-core rap fans were a little skeptical about how the album might impact his credibility.
Knowing that a project of this magnitude will be judged, parsed and scrutinized heavily, I bet Jay Z and Beyoncé are going to give it their absolute best.
