This is why you can’t believe everything you see on the internet! So the rumors were false, and Beyoncé was NOT in Chicago to perform at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) after all.
Before it was confirmed, several media outlets reported on Beyoncé’s possible performance, but boy oh boy do they have some backtracking to do now...
Yesterday Queen Bey fans stayed up all night after TMZ reported the “Love On Top” singer was set to perform at the DNC. By 7 p.m., a representative for the grammy award winner told the Hollywood Reporter she was never scheduled to show, and you better believe the Beyhive had a word of reactions.
On X, @beyoncepress wrote “Not us watching the entire Olympics closing ceremony and the entire DNC because of Beyoncé and she was at home the whole time washing her hair and drinking whiskey.”
Eventually TMZ came back and revealed they got it all wrong, but that wasn’t before X users called the tabloid out for spreading false rumors. On X, TMZ wrote “To quote the great Beyonce: We gotta lay our cards down, down, down ... we got this one wrong.”
Another user, @raesanni, joked Beyoncé not showing up last night could cost Vice President Kamala Harris the presidency.
People were really just wondering how TMZ got everything so wrong in the first place.
The internet also rolled out a new pack of Beyoncé memes, including one of the singer sleeping in bed with a bonnet on. A clip from a 2004 Destiny’s Child rehearsal also began resurfacing the internet, and fans were wondering why Beyoncé’s energy was so low.
Several people joked the only reason why they were tuned in to watch the DNC was to see the queen perform a few jams. On TikTok, user @iamRay_ painted the perfect picture of the Beyhive watching and waiting for Beyoncé to hit the stage.
Even though the DNC might’ve pulled a fast one on viewers, the final night of the four-day convention was nothing short of electric. Harris has officially accepted the Democratic nomination for presidency, and with that, Beyoncé fans can be sure to hear Harris’ campaign theme song “Freedom” for 73 more days.
