Honestly, the racism (and overall general ignorance) present in American schools is just out of this world. And in our latest update of “Who’s going to be expelled next?” Cypress Ranch High School students are now under intense scrutiny after apparently doing a Nazi salute for a class photo, Click2Houston reports.
According to the site, a student of the Cypress, Texas, school, who witnessed the incident and asked to remain anonymous said that approximately 70 students were shouting, “Heil Hitler” and “Heil Trump.”
“It was pretty terrifying,” the unidentified student said.
The pictures showing the group of students with some of their hands in the air started circulating Tuesday, which was picture day for the senior class. According to the site, one photo was meant to be serious, while the second was just supposed to be funny.
Breaking news flash: There’s nothing funny about the Nazi salute.
“Most people may think it was just kids just joking around, but in the current political climate and the fact these kids are seniors in high school, it’s beyond unacceptable,” the Cypress Ranch student told Click2Houston.
According to BuzzFeed, Twitter user Louis McCorgi Lee shared photos of the incident, along with a conversation that read, “So apparently in Cy Ranch’s class of 2017 ‘silly picture’ some girls did the black power fist and so a bunch of white boys did the nazi salute! Cool!”
A short video published by the Dallas Morning News also shows several students with their arms raised as people in the background shout, “Oh my God” incredulously.
The Cypress Ranch principal sent a letter home to parents stating:
This letter is to make you aware of a situation that occurred on our campus today while our senior class was taking a large group panoramic picture. Several of our students made the poor choice of displaying inappropriate gestures during this time. Unfortunately, many of these images have been shared on social media. This is extremely disappointing as this is not an accurate representation of our student body. We are currently conducting an investigation and those implicated will be punished according to the Student Code of Conduct.
We ask that you talk to your students regarding the posting and sharing of negative social media as this perpetuates a false image of Cy Ranch HS. We appreciate your partnership and support.
