Tessa Thompson’s sexual identity is no longer a secret.

Thompson, known for her roles in Thor: Regnarok and Creed, has come out as bisexual in a cover feature for Net-a-Porter.

The 34-year-old actress addressed the rumors regarding whether or not she was with singer and songwriter Janelle Monáe.

Thompson was in the Pynk music video by Monáe and peeked her head out through Monáe’s “vagina” trousers.

She described her involvement with the singer as complicated.

“It’s tricky, because Janelle and I are just really private people and we’re both trying to navigate how you reconcile wanting to have that privacy and space, and also wanting to use your platform and influence,” Thompson said.

Thompson explained that her family’s acceptance contributed to her comfort in coming out.

“I can take things for granted because of my family—it’s so free and you can be anything that you want to be. I’m attracted to men and also to women. If I bring a woman home, [or] a man, we don’t even have to have the discussion,” Thompson said.

Thompson says that the two love each other and she hopes that everyone else can have the freedom and support she has.

“We love each other deeply,” she says. “We’re so close, we vibrate on the same frequency. If people want to speculate about what we are, that’s OK. It doesn’t bother me.”

Every day I’m happier and happier that more people are acknowledging their sexuality and becoming a voice for others who may not feel as confident or free.

Happy Pride, y’all.
