On-screen, Terrence Howard's career seems to be going just fine. He's one of the stars of the hit movie Lee Daniels' The Butler. But offscreen, the actor's personal life has been in a tailspin, according to New York's Daily News.

Oscar-nominated actor Terrence Howard allegedly threatened suicide and murder with an X-Acto blade, threw his wife to the floor and called himself "Satan" during a marital meltdown and its aftermath, new court papers obtained by the Daily News state.

Now appearing with Oprah Winfrey in the No. 1 movie "The Butler," Howard purportedly went berserk when a planned reconciliation with wife Michelle ended in a fight over phone numbers for five women and a 17-year-old that she found in his bag April 23.

Michelle Howard, his ex-wife, currently has a restraining order against Terrence and will attempt to extend the order Sept. 25.
