A black student and five other classmates allegedly beat a Tennessee teen after he reportedly used the n-word during a confrontation with the group, according to WREG. The six students at Millington Central High School reportedly approached 15-year-old Ethan Humphrey on Friday after Ethan had refused to play football with the group earlier in the week.

During the confrontation, Ethan reportedly dropped the n-word, and the group pounced on the teen. Several students told the news station that he did use the word, but he was repeating what was said to him: "that my n—ger has my back."

One teen reportedly punched Ethan in the head twice, while another body-slammed him into the desk and then onto the floor. Ethan's mother told WREG that her son suffered a broken collarbone and a concussion from the altercation.

Raw Story notes that the teen was hospitalized for his injuries and that his mother was considering withdrawing him from school.

Ethan was suspended three days for his role in the altercation, but Raw Story notes that the school declined to comment on whether or not others involved in the incident were disciplined.
