The final episode is a wrap, and there are a lot of people out there thanking their lucky stars that they had their life-changing moments in the Oprah spotlight before time ran out.

There's Dr. Phil, who barked commonsense psychology at her troubled guests for a couple of years before getting his own program. Sure, she publicly shamed author James Frey (and then apologized later), but his A Million Little Pieces likely wouldn't have even had the popularity to cause a national scandal if she hadn't made it a book club selection.
The Oprah Winfrey Show was Suze Orman's first big stage for hard-core financial advice. And while a lot of factors went into President Obama's success, her enthusiastic support certainly didn't hurt. Check out the rest of the list.
Thank goodness Oprah still has the magazine and the OWN network as a platform for launching the careers of up-and-coming stars. America might not be ready just yet to make Oprah-free decisions about who to love.
