Investigators in Michigan thought they had a good lead when they received a tip that a woman resembling Teleka Patrick had been spotted at a Wal-Mart in Battle Creek, Mich., WZZM 13 reports.

An employee reported seeing a woman who resembled Patrick near the store’s jewelry counter about 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Detective William Sparrow said. But deputies confirmed the identity of the customer and determined that it was not Patrick.

Thirty-year-old Patrick, a first-year student in Western Michigan University's residency program, disappeared on Dec. 5. Her car was recovered in a ditch alongside Interstate 94 in North Indiana. She was last seen by a shuttle driver after workers at a hotel in Kalamazoo, Mich., told police that she tried to get a room, but lacked the proper identification and a credit card. The driver took Patrick to her car, which was parked at her job.

She moved to Michigan last summer from California to start a residency at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.

Her case generated even more national attention after reports surfaced that she had stalked gospel singer Marvin Sapp prior to her disappearance. Sapp reportedly obtained a personal protection order in Kent County last September. She reportedly had been referring to him as her husband and joined his church, the Lighthouse Full Life Center in Grand Rapids, Mich. Sapp is not a suspect in her disappearance.
