A 13-year-old, 4-foot-11, 81-pound boy was killed at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway over the weekend. Peter Lenz of Vancouver, Wash., fell off his bike during the warmup lap for the day's first race at Indianapolis and was run over by another motorcycle, driven by a 12-year-old. The youngest rider ever to die in the history of the 101-year-old Indianapolis Motor Speedway was pronounced dead later at the hospital. It was the first death at the track since IndyCar driver Tony Renna was killed in testing in October 2003. Lenz had emerged as a rising star in the motorcyclist world, where riders can start to compete at a really young age. Although Lenz had a storied rise to fame at a young age, this was not his first serious crash — indeed, it was his second, and unfortunately his last. Lenz's father, who was present during the crash, posted messages of sorrow and support for his son and the other driver — which raises the question, how young is too young to compete in such a dangerous field?
