A rep for the Dr. Phil show has confirmed that homeless man-turned-MSNBC announcer Ted "Golden Voice" Williams is checking himself into rehab. Williams, who quickly became a YouTube sensation after a video showcasing his voice went viral, admitted on Dr. Phil that he had begun drinking again.

Last week, Williams and his daughter Janey were detained by the LAPD for a shouting match that turned ugly in a Los Angeles hotel. His daughter subsequently accused him of drinking in interviews about the arrest. After Williams admitted to drinking on Dr. Phil, the host suggested that he seek treatment off camera.

That's funny, because Dr. Phil was not exercising the same discretion on camera as he went in on Williams for his problems. We won't mention how duplicitous it is for Dr. Phil to bring Williams on the show under the guise of "helping" him and attacking him instead. Nonetheless, Williams is finally getting the help that he needs, which is most important.
