Tavis Smiley appeared on Good Morning America Monday morning, and he had a few words for PBS when it came to his suspension by the network. Smiley’s long-running show was pulled from PBS last week after several complaints of sexual misconduct.
“PBS made a huge mistake here,” Smiley told Good Morning America.“They need to fix this. They need to correct it. But I don’t know the answer.”
Regarding its investigation into the allegations against Smiley, PBS stated that several people said they felt that if they didn’t have a sexual relationship with Smiley, their jobs would be in jeopardy. The network also noted that it has a policy in place that forbids co-workers from basically shitting where they eat. But apparently, Smiley doesn’t think that included him.
“In our employee handbook, while we do not encourage office relationships, we do not forbid them, either,” Smiley told GMA, saying that that’s because “I don’t know where your heart’s going to lead you.”
