A female high school student at the elite, private Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., reported to police that she was raped on campus by an ex-boyfriend, D.C. police confirmed Friday, the Associated Press reports.
The student told officers that the classmate forced her to have sex in the afternoon and evening hours on Wednesday. The students reportedly knew each other and had had a previous sexual relationship. According to the report, the investigation into the rape, which was reported that night, is still in the early stages, and authorities have not yet been provided with any physical evidence that a rape occurred, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said.
Sidwell Friends Assistant Headmaster Ellis Turner said in an email that the school is cooperating fully with the investigation but refused to comment any further, citing school policy, the newswire notes.
Sidwell is an exclusive Quaker school that educates many of the children of Washington's elite, including Malia and Sasha Obama, the two daughters of President Barack Obama. Recently the president revealed that after leaving office, the family would remain in D.C., at least until Sasha graduates. Malia is on track to graduate this year. The private institution, AP notes, costs about $37,750 in annual tuition.
