Who knew that only people who receive Oscar nominations are invited to the show—even though, during every telecast, there are hundreds of people sitting in the audience? It’s this rule that will apparently keep the cast of Straight Outta Compton from attending, according to TMZ.
Ice Cube, the executive producer of the movie, isn’t going to be there, either, because he wasn’t invited. The only two people with ties to the movie who will be in attendance are the two white people who were nominated for the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
But according to reports, even if an invite had been extended, Ice Cube wouldn’t have gone anyway.
Don’t fret, Cube is going to support those who support him.
He’ll be in attendance at the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the NAACP Image Awards. The Image Awards nominated the movie for outstanding motion picture, F. Gary Gray for best director and O'Shea Jackson Jr. and Corey Hawkins, who portrayed Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, respectively, for supporting actor.
