It looks like love is in the socially conscious air as Common and Angela Rye are back together!
Following a whirlwind romance in the summer of 2017, Rye, an attorney and political commentator, confirmed the pair had called it quits in 2018.
On Tuesday, Common appeared on The Angie Martinez Show to confirm that the two have found their way back to each other.
So what happened? Well, turns out, Common just had to go to a Build-A-Bear workshop for niggas. Meaning, he had to get himself together.
“We dated. You know, I had to get myself together,” the 47-year-old rapper confirmed.
“She’s a smart cookie,” Martinez replied, clearly excited about the union.
“She’s a strong cookie,” Common noted. “But she’s good people. Really a good balance, and fun, too.”
This news comes just in time for the rapper’s new album, Let Love, which debuts Friday, August 30. Common’s 12th studio album, Let Love is a therapeutic approach to his life inspired by a phone call from his daughter and features artists such as Swizz Beatz, Jill Scott, Leon Rogers, Leikeli47, Daniel Caesar, BJ The Chicago Kid and more.
Speaking of that album, I got a sneak peek of one of his songs, “My Fancy Free Future Love” via Very Smart Brothas Senior Editor Panama Jackson. That song is clearly about Rye, right? Right. You’ll hear what I’m hearing on Friday.
To celebrate the album release, Common will be hosting a video presentation called Let Love Have the First Listen to take listeners through a journey of each song on the album via YouTube tonight (August 29) at 8PM ET / 5PM PT.
