A South Florida police chief has been suspended after sending racist e-mails from his office account. Wilton Manors police chief Richard Perez was suspended for 30 days without pay for sending what appear to be racist chain e-mails about blacks, the homeless and President Barack Obama and his family. For example, one email read, "A little boy said to his mother, 'Mommy, how come I'm black and you're white?' His mother replied, 'Don't even go there, Barack! From what I can remember about that party, you're lucky you don't bark.' " Perez also circulated jokes containing racial epithets and equations using "pimps" and "hos" as variables. In case you thought it couldn't get any worse, Chief Perez teaches professional development at Broward College. He was taken off the schedule when the incident surfaced. We're wondering why he only got 30 days suspension. We're pretty sure that if we sent e-mails like this at work, we'd be fired.
